The Top 3 Tips for getting the perfect night sleep
1. Unwind and declutter your mind.
The biggest tip we have before bed and how to get that perfect bedtime routine is by taking time before you’re in bed to relax, not just on the sofa with a glass of wine (this is another tip, see below) but all those things the TV and wine are helping distract you from.

- Reading, it always seems like a chore but this is a sure fire way of letting your brain get used to settling down and calming your head down in the process.

This is such a big thing as we know we are all addicted to our phones. However, it’s all screens which we must be careful of and household lights even!
Doctor’s recommend an hour before bed of no screens and dimly lit lighting – throw a book in there, you’ll be in the land of nod in no time…
3.Food and Drink.
Avoid big meals at night. At the end of the day, you’re lying down for eight hours and that’s a lot of food even if you don’t have much, just sitting there not going anywhere.
Hemp Point recommends trying to make dinner earlier in the evening, giving you more time to digest it. Also, it seems obvious but it’s not always easy, however if you can avoid heavy, rich foods within two hours of bed this is a massive help!
Avoid drinking too many liquids in the evening. Drinking lots of fluids may result in frequent bathroom trips throughout the night. Leading on from this, avoiding alcohol before bed is always a good shout. While a nightcap may help you relax, it interferes with your sleep cycle once you’re asleep and it’s no surprise that you’re tossing and turning or wondering why you’re suddenly hot!
Finally, limit caffeine and nicotine.
Sounds obvious?
Certainly, no coffee but what’s crazy is it’s not just coffee 5 minutes before bed…oh no, caffeine can cause sleep problems up to ten to twelve hours after drinking it!
Again, having lungs full of smoke doesn’t seem to make sense but smoking allows those who smoke to relax…perhaps with a glass of wine! However, smoking is actually a stimulant that can disrupt your sleep.
