SlovakHemp Extract CBD
1. ORGANIC FARMING
The hemp plants are grown from EU-certified seeds. Herbicides and pesticides are not used. Some of our cultivars are grown indoors, some in a greenhouse and some outdoors under the sun either in Czech Republic or in Italy. The plants are hand picked at their optimal growth time and individually hung at natural temperatures until sufficiently dried for our hemp extract CBD extraction process.
2. HEMP EXTRACT CBD PREPARATION
We are predominantly using CO2 gas as a solvent for our hemp extract extraction, but in a quest for quality, we recently started to use a different process from many other CBD companies. Most brands would use supercritical CO2 extraction, where the CO2 is kept at a liquid state using high pressures and high temperatures, but we opt for a different method. Everyone goes for supercritical, but we use something we call mid-critical. This allows us to extract as many cannabinoids from the plant as possible, while also preserving majority of the terpenes.
With the mid-critical CO2 extraction, we’re able to get around 60%-70% of the CBD + CBDa from the plant, but this still isn’t enough for us, because the terpene profile is not perfect, it could still be better. We believe in the power of the whole plant, and that includes the terpenes.
This is why we have in 2021 started to use alongside CO2 our new extraction method for hemp extract extraction with different gas as a solvent called HFC-134a. The extraction is performed at low pressure and room temperatures in order to strip the natural oils from the raw cannabis products in a closed-loop system. This gas is not flammable and, as a gas, is less toxic than carbon dioxide. It is also approved by the European Commission as a solvent for the preparation of human food. The US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) have granted it “GRAS” status (Generally Regarded As Safe) for the preparation of food flavours and fragrances. In our tests, we are able to extract 75%+ of the CBD+CBDa, but also extract a much higher naturally occurring cannabis terpenes profile.
3. THIRD PARTY LAB TESTED
After each batch of hemp extract CBD is created, it is sent to an independent lab for testing. It’s important that the oil meets our standards for potency and quality.
By testing each batch, we ensure the levels of cannabinoids and terpenes are consistent and the Cannabis oil is pure – free of the compounds we thoroughly filtered out.
